Owner Discovers Damages To Rental Property

The owner of a local rental property filed a complaint with law enforcement officials last week, indicating that he had discovered considerable damage to his property.

Officers with the Lawrenceburg Police Department were called to 528 Second Street on Tuesday.

The owner reported that his tenants had recently moved out. Upon inspecting his property, the owner discovered fire damage to a floor and wall. A storm door had been damaged along with windows and a door casing. Altogether the owner estimated damages to total $1,600.

Officers had been called to a Smith Avenue home the day before where a number of items were reported missing. The owner reported there had recently been a fire at the property, rendering the home and contents a complete loss. He said that he had been contacted by the man overseeing the property after a number of items went missing.

The owner reported that a water heater and set of wooden steps was taken. In addition, a refrigerator and stove that had belonged to the man renting the property at the time of the fire, were also missing.

Investigation into both crimes is currently on-going.
